Description
This trip takes you to gorgeous parts of Thailand, some of them not so well known on the tourist trail, such as the small community of Pra Pradaeng for a visit to a genuine 'Bang Nam Pung' market. You will find many delicious local foods, fruits and handmade products brought in by the villagers to the market.
Sangklaburi, the site of your volunteer project, is very near the Burmese border, and the orphanage where you will assist is comprised largely of Burmese refugees, primarily of the Karen and Mon ethnic minority groups. It is an inspiring place, where you can help with teach, or work on various building projects, using innovative, ecologically sustainable techniques.
What's more, there is also a sunken temple and elephant camp to explore nearby.
On top of cycling opportunities, there is a half day canoe trip on the River Kwai, and your adventure ends with a three-day rice barge from the ancient capital of Ayuthaya back to Bangkok
