Traverse of Transylvanian Alps

Operator

Mountain Leader-Romania

Description

Fagaras Mountains, known as Transylvanian Alps, are the highest mountains within the Romanian Carpathians. They are oriented East-West and their length is about 70 km. Here you’ll find 8 peaks with elevations over 2500 m (Moldoveanu peak: 2544 m, Negoiu peak: 2535 m, Vistea Mare peak: 2527 m, Lespezi peak: 2522 m, Cornul Caltunului peak: 2517 m, Vanatoarea lui Buteanu peak: 2507 m, Hartopu peak: 2504 and Dara peak: 2500 m), 42 peaks with elevations over 2400 m and other 150 peaks over 2300 m.

This tour is designed for fit trekkers who enjoy challenges and who want to reach the highest peaks in the area and to pass some technical passages. Previous training is mandatory to complete the entire route. Because of the lack of mountain huts in the alpine area, we will spend most of the nights in tents.
