The Jungfrau Railway is a unique round-trip made by a modern cogwheel railway. It takes you first to Kleine Scheidegg, at an altitude of some 2061 metres. Kleine Scheidegg is situated at the foot of the notorious Eiger mountain's North Wall.
From Kleine Scheidegg the Jungfrau Railway then climbs up to the station at Eigergletscher, which is well known for its mountain restaurant and polar dog kennels.
The journey continues through the Eiger tunnel up to the stations at Eigerwand and Eismeer, with a five minute halt at each, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular sightseeing through large observation windows hewn out of the solid Alpine rock.
And then on to the final stop on the Jungfraujoch, in the heart of a glorious glacier world on the very roof of Europe!
Here you have superb views as far as the summits of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. At 22km, the Great Aletsch Glacier which begins on the Jungfraujoch, is the Alps longest river of ice.
