Ghost Hunts/Paranormal Events

UK Shadow Seekers - Investigators of the Paranormal
Description
Opened in 1899, Rothley Station is situated on the Great Central Railway (GCR) line between Loughbrough and Leicester. The railway was once used to run passenger and freight trains from London Marylebone up to Sheffield.
The GCR also included plans for the Channel Tunnel with the intention of running continental trains through the UK and even built larger bridges to accommodate this.
In 1948, all railways including the GCR were nationalised and became British Railway. The line first of all belonged to the Eastern region until it later became the London Midland. There was an increasing amount of traffic and then the M1 opened in the 1960s, making the route less favourable as more people used the Midland Mainline (now known as East Midlands Trains).
This resulted in local stations closing by 1963, with direct services to London ending in 1966, and the route saw passenger services withdrawn and the line eventually closed in 1969.
The stations and their facilities became derelict and volunteers are continuing to restore the GCR line between Leicester and Nottingham. Rothley Station however, is now restored to how it looked back in 1912 and since 1975 has reopened again with all its main features including a parcels office, booking office, waiting room and a refreshment room, all complete with original working gas lamps.
Rothley Station has become famous for its reputation of ghosts that bring a number of investigators to spend the night and they have always had plenty of activity! People have continued reporting strange happenings that date back from the time it was being built! Seeing things move of their own accord and hearing strange voices are just some of the unexplained phenomena reported by visitors and staff alike.
When we originally went to view the station, Steve saw a figure in the back of the Post Room as he went to take a photo, but unfortunately he didn't take the picture quick enough. On further inspection, thinking a porter was in the room, we found it to be empty with no other exit.
