How it Works
Back to top menu The sophisticated YouGoDo Ad Engine assesses the best adverts to show to the end users using a combination of:
- the end users language
- the country where the end user is browsing the site from
- the locations the end user is searching for activities and experiences in
- the types of activities the end user is looking for
The YouGoDo Ad Engine matches these details to the adverts on our system, to show YouGoDo users the most relevant adverts, as specified by our advertisers. This intelligent targeting maximises the chances of relevant end users finding our client´s adverts, and hence the success of their advertising.
Where Advertisers Can Elect to Place their Adverts
Back to top menu The YouGoDo Ad Engine serves effective image based adverts to our activity and experience seekers in four Ad Zones.
- Zone 1: 120 x 90 pixels
- Zone 2: 120 x 60 pixels
- Zone 3: 120 x 600 pixels
- Zone 4: 120 x 240 pixels
The first 3 of the 4 Ad Zones appear “above the fold” on all screens. Zone 4 is generally below the visible screen area, until the user scrolls down the page. However the rich YouGoDo content means most users scroll down to see more detail.
The Ad Zones appear on three different YouGoDo page types, and Advertisers can also elect to show their adverts on any of these page types:
- The YouGoDo Home Page – Fairly Generic – these adverts are shown to all users, although advertisers can elect to show their adverts only to users from a particular country or group of countries, or to end users viewing content in a particular language. Example – show my Theme Park adverts on the home page for all YouGoDo users from Australia browsing in English.
- The YouGoDo Inspiration Page - Fairly Generic, although users on this page are generally looking for something more adventurous! – these adverts are shown to all users, although advertisers can elect to show their adverts only to users from a particular country or group of countries or to end users viewing content in a particular language. Example – show my Energy Drinks adverts on the inspiration page for all YouGoDo users from Europe.
- The YouGoDo Search and Details Pages - Generic or Highly Targeted – these adverts have the flexibility to be very generic or very highly targeted. See more details below in Ad targeting. Example – show my Theme Park adverts to users from around the world looking for things to do in the UK, or show my Surf Bar advert to users looking at surfing activities in Malibu.

Advert Targeting
Back to top menu Advertisers can accurately elect when they wish YouGoDo to show their adverts, using a combination of selection criteria.
The YouGoDo Ad Engine allows adverts to be non-targeted, highly targeted, and everything in between.
Targeting criteria available:
| Ad Location: | The position within YouGoDo that the advertiser wishes to place their advert. A combination of the YouGoDo Page Type and the Ad Zone (see above). For example show this version of my advert on Zone 3 of the Home Page. |
| Content Language: | Which languages the advertiser wishes their adverts to be shown in. For example only show my German version of my Online Hotel Booking Service advert to those using YouGoDo in German. |
| Content Category: | The Activity Categories the advertiser wishes to target. For example only show our ‘New Range of Motorcycles’ advert to users searching for Motorcycling activities. |
| Content Country: | The Countries the advertiser wishes to target. For example only show my Domestic Airlines advert to users searching for activities in the United States of America. |
| Content Location: | The Locations (Towns / Cities, etc) the advertiser wishes to target. For example only show my Sydney Campsite advert to users searching for things to do in Sydney. |
| User Country: | The End User Country the advertiser wishes to target. For example only show my Online Activity Clothing Shop advert to users browsing from the United Kingdom. |
Adverts are only shown when at least one item from each specified criteria group is matched. For example:

Targeting Preference
Back to top menu The YouGoDo Ad Engine will give preference to those adverts that are most targeted to the end users search criteria. For example: If the end user is searching for “Surfing” in “New Zealand”, adverts that target both “Surfing” and “New Zealand” will be served up first before adverts that only target “Surfing” or “New Zealand”.
Charging Method
Back to top menu YouGoDo advertising is based upon Cost per 1,000 Impressions (CPM) – The client specifies their desired cost per impression. NB: CPM (using M – the Roman number symbol for 1,000 is the term used for the cost for 1,000 impressions, also known singularly as CPI!). Adverts are shown using the selection criteria specified by the client and the cost per impression is charged to their account each time their advert is shown upon the site.

Timing and Payment Terms
Back to top menu Pre payment must be made prior to adverts going live. Clients should allow a maximum of 1 week from receipt of order, payment and artwork (whichever is provided later) before adverts go live. YouGoDo accepts most major credit cards.
